CA Foundation -> Intermediate -> Final

Anyone after Class 12 - the most common route into accounting, audit, and finance leadership in India.

After Class 12 (Foundation route) or via CA Intermediate direct-entry for commerce/other graduates Difficult - Foundation pass rate ~15% (2025)
Chartered Accountancy is India's largest and most recognized professional finance qualification, run in three stages (Foundation, Intermediate, Final) with mandatory articleship (practical training) alongside the later stages.

How tough it actually is: ICAI's own 2025 results put CA Foundation's pass rate at roughly 15% (May 2025: 15.09%; September 2025: 14.78%) - one of the toughest entry-level professional exams in the country by pass rate, though a large share of that reflects how many students attempt it underprepared or alongside other coursework, not that the syllabus is inherently unlearnable.

Why people still go for it: CA remains one of the most reliably employable finance qualifications in India - nearly every mid-to-large company needs qualified accountants, and the qualification is portable across industries (not tied to one employer type the way some others are).

What the path actually involves: Foundation (after Class 12) -> Intermediate -> ~2 years of articleship (practical training under a practicing CA) alongside/after Intermediate -> Final. The whole route typically takes 4-5 years door to door for a focused candidate, longer for most.
On outcomes: Starting compensation varies widely by firm size and city - Big 4/large firms and industry roles at the top end, smaller practices lower. Ranges you'll see cited publicly move year to year; check current placement reports rather than a fixed number here.
